what's a reliable, good, and easy to work with engine?
i'm looking for an easy to work with engine.
regardless of whether it is for a car, motorcycle, boat, rc vehicle, lawnmower, briggs and straton, etc.
I'm doing this to get some mechanical experience and since I have always wanted to rebuild or play aorund with an engine.
what's a good engine that's not to expensive, reliable, durable, and has many parts for(stock and aftermarket parts) thanks.

If you're looking to start up on engines, nothing beats a couple of good small engines to work on.
The 5 hp briggs and stratton "Quantum" type lawnmower engine is a good standby, but don't overlook the 6-8hp Tecumseh engines found on small to medium snowblowers. The older pre-emissions carbs are easily disassembled and have floats, needles and seats that are built quite a bit (and adjustable like) the ones found in larger engines. Jack's Small Engines has all the parts for these puppies online.
You can score these by generally looking around for people's old beat up snowblowers and lawnmowers - don't be too shy about asking your neighbors if they have any dead/dying lawn and garden equipment or snowblowers to wrench on. My first small engine build is on a 73 or so 5 hp B&S mower - still running, and still occasionally used when I feel nostalgic.
If you start looking at larger engines, you can start digging around on 70's-80's chevy 305's - I would suggest a 350, but its very likely you'll score a 305 for practically free, since very few people love 'em. My first build was a 305 out of a second gen Camaro. Another good one to look at is the Honda VTEC - like you're mentioning, since it has a long history, and you can score an early Civic for practically nothing as well, and pull the engine.
