GPS - what is a good model to get and what about map updates?
I am looking to get a GPS system for my car because I do a lot of traveling with my new job. I was not sure if I sure get a Garmin or a Magellan unit. I think I like the Garmin C-340 street pilot but I was not sure if Magellan was better. I am only looking to spend under $299. What about map updates, someone told me Magellan gives free map updates when roads are added. Is this true, I do not want to buy a gps that can not be up to date. Any help would be appreciated, thank you

I have a Magellan Maestro 3100. Nice unit. They now have map updates available for mine. Free download. What I don't like is their instructions of how to install after downloading. They said keep the unit powered. But it may take more than 3 hours to install and the battery charge lasts less. I'm afraid that if something goes wrong with the installation, I will loose my present maps!
I would suggest: go to Magellan.com, choose a model, find out about update availability for that one. Read the installation instructions.
