Never store a battery of any kind in a device. Too many devices don't actually shut off anymore and there may still be a very small drain that would discharge the battery over time. A battery is much more likely to leak and damage what ever it is in when it is completely discharged. For storage, give it a complete charge and then store it at room temperature. There is no way to have a battery that has been stored over 3 months in the same condition as when you first stored it. They all self-discharge over time.
