Why do I need to apply pressure to my Blackberry touch screen?
I am having problems with my Blackberry Storm in that I have to literally press on the screen until it clicks to type messages, enter items on the menu etc. as opposed to just touching or tapping on it. Is it right that it does this or do i need to look into getting a new screen???
You need to apply pressure because the screen on the blackberry, and most other touch screens is 'resistive'
This means it needs to feel force, or resistance against it for it to register any input. Its effectively like a big button, or a set of buttons under the screen that you cant see. You see the touch panel but your touch activates buttons hidden.
Phones like the iPhone however are known as 'capaciative' touch screens which means they work simply by touch and the electrical energy contained within your fingers.
