You can get a commercial real time GPS systems with position errors in the range on 1 cm. But they are expensive (tens of thousands of dollars).
Once you have your good GPS you then have to mount the antenna on the roof of the vehicle to get a good view of the sky which means that unless the ground is flat you have to allow for the tilt of the vehicle or your position will be off.
And once you know your location you need a control loop to keep you going in the correct direction, how closely you can follow the line you want to be on will depend a lot on the terrain and the type of vehicle.
