How should I store these lithium Ion batteries to keep them fully-charged?
I have bought a set of lithium ion batteries for my new GPS.
How should I store these batteries when my GPS unit is not in use? Is it O.K. to leave them inside my unit by just turning off the power or do I need to remove them from the unit to keep them fresher for longer time in between uses?
This is a GARMIN GPSMAP 60Cx unit.
These are the non-rechargeable-type (I think.)
I bought them without a recharging-dock....so.
According to battery manufacturers, Li-ion batteries in extremely long term storage last longest when stored at about 40% of full capacity. That would be difficult for the average battery owner to maintain. Given a choice between charging them before storge or draining them completely, it's best to charge them before putting them away.
I'd take them out of the device.
