1990 ford tempo: just overheated, or more serious?
My car acts up when left in the sun (it's summer in San Jose). About 15 min ago, I got into the car, and put the key in the ignition, but before turning it, I started fiddling with my GPS device. Once I'd settled my GPS, I saw motion from the corner of my eye; small wisps of smoke coming out from under the hood. I popped the hood, and looked around, but couldn't find anything obvious. I know little to nothing about cars, but nothing was on fire or clearly smoking, nothing looked cracked or warped. I got back into the car and tried the engine again several times-- nothing. I know I'll have to bring it to the mechanic, but does this sound like it's simply too hot, and I should just always park in the shade? Or does this sound like something more serious? anyone? help!
