motorcycle hesitating and loss of power and back firing after reving up a couple of time in a row?
i have 2002 victory tour cruiser deluxe it is hesitiating with the throttle at constant power at all speeds .sometimes sputters and occasionally will back fire after reving up a few times or getting off fuel fast..also loss of power,seems like running about 70% of power,..any help would be appreciated..recently changed plugs but was doing before they were changed...
Back fire by definition is unburned fuel detonating in the exhaust system after it leaves the combustion chamber. You might be running to rich, have a bad plug (spark) not giving enough juice when needed, there could be a problem with any 'pollution control' junk on your bike, and you could have valves that need to be adjusted anew to proper lash settings. Coil could be going bad.
These are the most likely areas, but certainly not the only ones... happy hunting and good luck! A good general tune up will correct almost any of the problems listed here!
